Stampin' Up! Thanks a Ton Whale Card

Hi, everyone!  How cute is this whale?  Let me tell you....I was not interested when I first looked through the catalog.  I think I was a little overwhelmed with so many new pretty things, and I was so excited to see that so many things were carrying over, and I would have to completely restock my supplies from scratch.  lol  Even after I settled down a little, I still didn't have him on my priority list.  My upline is doing a paper share party, and this bundle is one of her upgrades.  For some reason, adding him onto my paper share order was okay, but I just couldn't bring myself to add him to my own order.  It was crazy, I know, but I'm glad I got him, however it had to happen.

I used the Seabed 3D embossing folder to create my own background paper.  The picture above is the card I made in the video, using a sponge dauber to add ink to the side of the embossing folder with the raised images.  This caused the ink to be pushed into the paper.  The picture below is the one I made during my live a few weeks back.  I used the same technique, but I applied the ink to the "inny" side of the embossing folder, so that the ink would be applied to the flat areas of the paper rather than the embossed parts.

I can't decide which one I like the best!  Maybe the original (the second one-just above this text) is edging out the one from the video, but only by about a millimeter.

I will include the links to the Whale Done Bundle as well as each element separately in the supply list below, in case you prefer to purchase individual items.

Stampin' Up! Lovely Post-it Mask Card

As soon as I got this stamp set in the mail, I knew I would have to try this technique with it.  I really love how it turned out!  It's so pretty and so easy to do.  You can use any color combination you want.  I just pulled some inks that I thought would go together.  Changing the color used as a mat layer would change the character of the card as well.  I'm thinking that using Daffodil Delight or Magenta Madness would really brighten it up and make it even more fun.

Base:  5.5" x 8.5", Whisper White, scored at 4.25"
Layer: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8", Pretty Peacock
Stamped Layer:  2.75" x 4"
Stamps:  Lovely You
Ink:  Pretty Peacock, Just Jade, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Magenta Madness
Embellishment:  Rhinestone Basic Jewels and Flowers for Every Season Ribbon

Stampin' Up! Forever Greenery Friendship Card

This suite is SO pretty!  I have been hoarding it.  For me, it's just one of those that you have to take out and look at all of the elements a few times to get past the prettiness and wrap your mind around the possibilities.  I should have just jumped in and started creating simple things, but I just got so overwhelmed.  It finally all came together for me, though, with this card.  I love how it's so easy to create something so elegant!

So, in the video I struggle a little with the sentiment.  In my sample, I used two different die sets, but I wanted to streamline for you and just use one.  I finally figured it out, but I used a little trick that allows you to adjust the size of the element cut out by a die, to better fit your stamp set.  I really think I should have made the die-cut a little taller so that it would go with the gold banners a little better.  They don't quite fit.  Below is my sample card.  That staggered height between the banner and the sentiment piece is what I was going for.  It's a really fun technique.  Check out my video and then try it yourself.  Let me know how it goes!  It really opens up a lot of possibilities for your creativity.

Base:  4.25" x 11", Whisper White, scored at 5.5"

Embossing Folder:  Greenery
DSP:  2.5" x 5 3/8", Forever Greenery
Gold Layer:  2 pieces Gold Foil Sheets, measuring .75" x 5 3/8"
Sentiment: Whisper White for stamping and Gold Foil for die-cut/punched banner
Dies:  Tasteful Labels and/or Painted Labels
Stamp:  Free as a Bird
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
