Stampin' Up! 3D Thursday Bird Ballad 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" Box

Okay, so I realize that I have already done a 3D project with this design (the treat tents from a couple of weeks ago), but I found the little boxes I did a couple of Thanksgivings ago, for my students, and remembered how easy they were to make.  Then, I envisioned the treat tent design on the top of the boxes and realized that I needed to just go for it.

It shows how versatile a design can be.  I started out with what Brian King did last November at his On-Stage event (with the Bird Ballad laser cut card tin), translated over to my treat tents and is now replicated onto these cute little boxes as well.  You will probably see this box design a few more times.  There is so much you can do with it!

This is still the Bird Ballad DSP, but it's the back side of the paper I cut the birds from.  I thought it was so delicate and pretty.  Perfect for a baby shower, bridal shower, wedding favors, etc.

The most time-consuming and difficult part of the whole project was "fussy cutting" out the birds and flowers.  Even that wasn't very hard.  I mean, just put something on Netflix and have a stock of munchies (you can eat with a fork so you don't get your fingers dirty) and drinks and go at it.  The results are so worth it!  Are these just adorable?!?!  I think I'll make a few more and give them to the ladies in my church.  A Ghirardelli square will fit nicely with a mini sticky note and mini highlighter, I think (may have to try a few things out).  I'll make a mini card that matches as well to let them know how much I miss seeing them in person.

Stampin' Up! Tropical Palms Thank You Card

Happy Tuesday!

This beauty was made for a layout challenge a couple of weeks ago, but I wasn't completely happy with it.  The card on the right, in the photo below, is the one I made for the challenge.  I just felt like something was missing.  I found a piece of Soft Suede paper, embossed with the Coastal Weave 3D folder from the Tropical Oasis Suite and realized that was what the card needed.

I was right!  Just sayin'.  I mean, look at the difference.  The only other real difference is the color of the coconut embellishments that I used.  They don't make that much of a difference, but that embossing folder sure does.  It's details like those that really brings a card to life, I think.

Stampin' Up! Simply Stampin' Sunday Floral Essence Card

Today's Simply Stampin' Sunday card is also my Week 4 color challenge card. The final product includes a die cut stitched circle to add a little extra something, but that step can be left out.  The card is just as pretty without it.

The colors are Blushing Bride, Lovely Lipstick, Gorgeous Grape, and Old Olive.  I really wasn't sure how to use all of the colors.  I could see all of them together without Gorgeous Grape or maybe without Lovely Lipstick.  Then, I told myself to just try it.  I had found the inspiration card, that is in the video, in my stash and wanted to use it to create something similar with another stamp set.  I didn't think I had this stamp set.  That has been happening a lot lately.  I need to get a grip on that.  LOL!

Stampin' Up! Week 3 Color Challenge Cards

This was my first color challenge, and I had so much fun with it!  I combined several techniques that I've seen over the past few weeks into one card that was the focus of this challenge and then ended up with a super cute bonus card, too!

Here are the colors:  Pretty Peacock, Pool Party, Early Espresso, and Crumb Cake.  I. Love. Every. One. Of. Them!  Browns and blues and probably my favorite color combination.  Just ask my living room.  :)

Photo property of Stampin' Up!
So, instead of trying to match DSP or order some and have to wait for it, I decided to make my own background paper, using one of my favorite stamp sets, Abstract Impressions.  I honestly wouldn't have used this particular color combination with this set, but this challenge had me thinking outside the box a little.  I think it really works.  Don't you?

I did not have matching ribbon.  How is that even possible?  I seriously don't, though.  What I do have is my favorite ribbon-the crinkled seam binding ribbon in Whisper White.  I used my Pool Party stamp pad and a sponge dauber to color the ribbon, and it's worked beautifully.

Don't forget to visit my Facebook Page, Stampin' on the Bright Side for weekly Lives and information about upcoming classes and events.

Cardstock:
Base:  Early Espresso 4 1/2" x 3 3/4", plus piece for layered oval
Card base: Whisper White 4 1/4" x 10 1/2", scored at 1 3/4" and 3 1/2" on each end, plus piece for stitched oval
1st Mat Layer:  Pool Party 4 1/8" x 3 3/8" and 4 1/8" x 1 5/8"
2nd Mat Layer:  Early Espresso 4" x 3 1/4" and 4" x 1 1/2"
Stamped Background Paper or DSP: 3 7/8" x 3 1/8" and 3 7/8" x 1 3/8"
Ink:  Pretty Peacock, Pool Party, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Stamps: Abstract Impressions
Embellishments: Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins, Whisper White seam binding ribbon (colored with Pool Party ink)

Bonus Card:
As I was "chattering" at the end of my FB Live, I pulled out this "trial" piece of background paper and got instant inspiration to create this card as a bonus project.  It all just came together so nicely.  I really love it.  It's so simple, yet pretty, and I love that sentiment from the same stamp set.

Cardstock:  Early Espresso 4 1/4" x 11"; Pool Party 4 1/8" x 4 1/8" plus scrap for accent on banner; Whisper White 4" x 4" plus scrap for sentiment banner
Ink:  Pretty Peacock, Pool Party, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Stamps: Abstract Impressions
Embellishments: Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins

I have so many projects in the works that I decided to go ahead and embed my FB Live video here instead of filming videos for each of the cards here.  I may do that in the future, when I have a little extra time, but for now, please just fast forward through my chatter.  :)
